Military science fiction hasn't always been the most welcome sub genre within science fiction but if you think of the top authors in the field, it's a rare author who has not tried their hand in the field. This anthology proves the point with stories from Arthur C Clarke to Gregory Benford and George RR Martin (slightly more famous in the fantasy field these days).. The best known stories are most likely to be 'Ender's Game from Orson Scott Card and 'Hero', the first third or so of Joe W Haldeman's 'The Forever War'.

My favourite story is, probably, Cordwainer Smith's 'Game of Rat and Dragon ( )
